Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior representative commented the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
