A person who contaminated treats with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males both nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight children and one adult experienced illness at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.
Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated materials including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were found, and his family member contacted the police about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"The police had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the family member called the law enforcement again.
She stated Ruben then played the "sweet game" in a room of five children.
